House Budget Committee Approves Budget-Process-Reform Bills
WASHINGTON—Today, the House Budget Committee approved two bills that begin to fix the broken budget process in Washington: H.R. 1872, The Budget and Accounting Transparency Act of 2014, sponsored by Congressman Scott Garrett; and H.R. 1869, The Biennial Budgeting and Enhanced Oversight Act of 2014, sponsored by Congressman Reid Ribble.
Following the committee’s vote, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin issued the following statement:
"Washington is spending too much money, and the current budget process encourages Congress to spend even more. Right now, there’s simply too much waste and too little accountability.
