Chairman Yarmuth on House Adoption of 2022 Budget Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Kentucky Representative John Yarmuth, Chair of the House Budget Committee, issued a statement following House adoption of S. Con. Res. 14, A Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2022:
“In response to immediate health and economic crises brought on by the pandemic, House Democrats passed the 2021 budget resolution and delivered the American Rescue Plan. Now, once again, Democrats are answering the call to action by advancing a budget resolution that meets the immediate and long-term needs of our nation. The resolution provides a path forward for the President’s Build Back Better Plan and its visionary and transformative investments in the health, well-being, and financial security of America’s workers and families,” said Chairman Yarmuth.
The 2022 budget resolution provides reconciliation instructions to 13 House and 12 Senate committees to advance Democrats’ plan to Build Back Better. It instructs these committees to report legislation consistent with these budgetary targets to the Budget Committee by September 15. The Budget Committee will then combine the legislation and prepare it for floor consideration. In addition, the resolution also provides for budget enforcement in 2022 and includes other necessary technical language.
