Chairman Yarmuth’s Statement on CBO Estimate Confirming the Build Back Better Act is Fully Paid For
Washington, D.C.— Kentucky Representative John Yarmuth, Chair of the House Budget Committee, issued a statement following the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) release of a consolidated estimate of the Build Back Better Act (H.R. 5376):
“This evening, CBO released its consolidated estimate of the Build Back Better Act, confirming that this historic package of transformational investments is fully paid for. The estimate is consistent with Democrats’ expectations. With the additional revenues raised by ensuring the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share, the Build Back Better Act will lower costs for working families and create good-paying jobs here at home – all without adding to the nation’s debt.
“The Build Back Better Act makes the transformative investments to meet the needs of the American people, address dangerous deficits in our society, improve our economic outlook, and set America up to compete and win in the decades ahead. I thank Director Swagel and all the staff at CBO for their tireless efforts to provide this rigorous, non-partisan analysis and I look forward to the expedient passage of H.R. 5376 in the House.”
