House Budget Committee Highlights Importance of America COMPETES Act Investments for Federal & Family Budgets
Washington, D.C.— Today the House Budget Committee released a report underscoring how the targeted federal investments in House Democrats’ America COMPETES Act will reinvigorate America’s research, manufacturing, and innovation capabilities while creating jobs, addressing supply chain disruptions, lowering costs for families, and better preparing our country and communities for the future.
The report highlights the Committee’s work to emphasize the need for an increased budgetary commitment to R&D and innovation as it has been 15 years since the last major investment. This has led to America falling behind our global competitors in science and innovation leadership.
“Now is the time to boldly and strategically invest in our country’s future,” said House Budget Chairman John Yarmuth. “The America COMPETES Act’s forward-looking investments in research, innovation, and American manufacturing will support our recovery, help alleviate inflationary pressures so we can lower costs for families, boost regional economies and create good jobs, and solidify America’s global competitiveness and leadership for decades to come.”
