House Budget Committee Organizes for 117th Congress
Washington, D.C.— Today, the House Budget Committee organized for the 117th Congress. Following the adoption of the Committee Rules by voice vote and the selection of Congressman Brendan Boyle (D-PA-02) as Vice Chair, the Budget Committee is now fully constituted.
“As Vice Chair, Mr. Boyle’s knowledge of the budget process and dedication to fighting for a strong, equitable economy that benefits all Americans will be a big asset to our important work,” said House Budget Chairman John Yarmuth. “Without question, our top priority must be effectively responding to the COVID pandemic and the resulting economic fallout, and I will ensure that the Budget Committee does everything it can to support this critically important effort. As Congress works to deliver vital relief to American families and achieve the goals outlined in President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, I look forward to working alongside Vice Chair Boyle and all of our Committee Members to make the necessary and responsible investments to move our nation forward.”
“It is a tremendous honor to be named Vice Chair of the House Budget Committee,” said Congressman Brendan Boyle. “The Budget Committee is now playing a crucial role in preparing the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan for a floor vote and passage. This term, I will do my part to stay focused on the mission of the House Budget Committee by investing in our country's future, building a strong economy based on broadly shared prosperity, protecting and improving health care and other vital services for American families, and keeping our promises to seniors, veterans and the most vulnerable among us. I look forward to working closely with Chairman Yarmuth to make sure our budget priorities reflect the values and aspirations of all of our fellow Americans.”
