Statement from Chairman Yarmuth on CBO Analysis on Trump Budget

May 9, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Chairman of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the release of an analysis from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on President Trump’s FY 2020 Budget:

“Today, the Congressional Budget Office confirmed that President Trump’s budget would set the stage for a nation in decline. It would gut health care programs by $1.5 trillion and cut further investments in our national and economic security by $1 trillion, all while extending tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy and corporations. This budget was dead on arrival. It’s time to move on to raising the budget caps to ensure we can make the needed investments in our country and our future.”
