Yarmuth Statement on CBO’s Long-Term Budget Outlook

Mar 30, 2017

Washington, DC—Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the release of the Congressional Budget Office’s Long-Term Budget Outlook:

“Our country made significant progress in job growth and deficit reduction during the Obama administration. But today’s report from the CBO shows long-term deficit challenges remain, which is why now is the wrong time for the President and Congressional Republicans to pursue new tax policy that would provide enormous tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy. Tax reform can be a bipartisan effort, but not if it shifts the tax burden on to middle-class families or balloons federal debt.”
