Yarmuth Statement on Failure of Senate Trumpcare
Washington, D.C.— Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, today released the following statement after the Senate failed to pass the latest version of Trumpcare early this morning:
“Early this morning, the Senate rejected a plan that would have taken health care away from millions while not improving coverage for a single American. Thanks to everyone who put pressure on their elected officials to stop this monstrous legislation. Your calls, emails, and protests worked.
“Every American deserves access to the health care they need. As we move forward, it's time for Congressional Republicans to listen to the American people and work with Democrats to improve and strengthen the Affordable Care Act. This doesn’t stop in Washington. Some states have successfully implemented the law, others have not. They all must play a role in replicating the parts of the ACA that are working well, while fixing the areas that aren’t. This issue is too important to let politics stand in the way.”
