Yarmuth Statement on Senate Republican Budget Resolution
Washington, DC – Today Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the 2017 budget resolution introduced by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Enzi:
“It is truly disheartening that the Republican Leadership’s top priority for this new Congress is to end health coverage for millions of individuals and put insurance companies back in charge of health decisions for all Americans. There is nothing in the 2017 Senate budget resolution to create jobs, rebuild our nation’s infrastructure, or address any of the economic concerns facing families across our nation.
The election is over. But this budget shows us that Republicans in Congress aren't ready to end the campaign rhetoric and govern. It's time they drop this single-minded and misguided obsession with dismantling the Affordable Care Act so we can begin to address the real needs and priorities of American families."
