WASHINGTON, D.C. – At the heart of our health care system is the doctor-patient relationship. It is that trusting relationship that drives quality care. When the federal government, however, decides to exert an ever greater level of influence over the practice of medicine – as we have seen under Obamacare – then the doctor-patient relationship is threatened and the quality of care is potentially compromised.
As House Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06) – who spent over 20 years taking care of patients – explains in today’s video release:
“You as a patient need to know that your doctor is looking out for you. You need to know that when you ask your doctor a question that they’re responding to you in a way that is informed by their experience, their expertise, and their education…If we destroy that trusting relationship, we harm the quality of health care for this nation in ways that really are difficult to calculate. That’s why the doctor-patient relationship is so important. You need to know that what your doctor is recommending for you is exactly what he or she believes is right for you based upon education and science, not based upon what Washington is telling them he or she must do.”
