Washington, D.C. – House Budget Committee Chairman Diane Black issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the conference report for H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Chairman Black was one of the House-Senate conferees tasked with negotiating the comprehensive tax reform legislation.
“This is the day we have been anticipating for years. With passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the tax relief we promised will soon be on its way for hardworking, middle class American families. Throughout the process, I’ve been proud to work with our leadership, my colleagues and the White House to help craft legislation that will put more money in people’s pockets, simplify our outdated tax code and empower businesses to create jobs. I look forward to passage of H.R. 1 in the Senate and sending it on to the president’s desk to be signed into law.”
Chairman Black also made remarks on the House floor ahead of passage. Video is available here.
