Washington, D.C. – Chairman Steve Womack released the below statement after today announcing that Dan Keniry will serve as Staff Director of the House Budget Committee beginning February 20, 2018.
“I am pleased to announce the hire of Dan Keniry as Staff Director of the House Budget Committee,” said Chairman Steve Womack. “Dan comes to us with a seasoned background in legislative affairs and substantial federal government service. His capable leadership and management vision will be vital to the Committee, and I look forward to working together closely in the days ahead to advance important policies and reforms.”
Dan Keniry joins the House Budget Committee from the private sector where he led advocacy and government affairs at the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) and most recently, United Health Group. Keniry also brings with him years of federal government experience to the Committee. At the White House, Keniry served in the Office of Legislative Affairs for President George W. Bush from 2001-2005 as the Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and the Administration’s principal liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives. From 1993-2001, Keniry served in various capacities in the U.S. House of Representatives, including Senior Floor Assistant to the Speaker of the House and Staff Director of the House Committee on Rules.
Keniry holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and a Master’s Degree in American History from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He and his wife, Margaret, live in Arlington, Virginia, and have three children.
