Washington, D.C. – House Budget Committee Chairman Steve Womack issued the following statement after the Committee conducted a hearing on President Donald Trump’s budget request for fiscal year 2019. Today’s hearing included testimony from Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney.
“Submission of the President’s budget request to Congress is an essential first step in the federal budgeting process each fiscal year,” said Chairman Steve Womack. “In today’s hearing with OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, we started a valuable exchange with the Administration about our policy and spending priorities. There are many worthwhile ideas included in the President’s budget. In the coming days, I look forward to keeping these suggestions in mind and working with members of the Committee to craft a fiscally responsible blueprint that reflects the best ideas for our country’s future.”
