Arrington on this Month's Inflation Report

Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) issued the following statement on this month’s inflation report, which showed that core PCE – which excludes food and energy and is the Fed’s preferred gauge of inflation – rose 4.6% over the last year and remains three times higher than it was before Democrats passed their so-called Inflation Reduction Act.

“Today’s inflation report makes clear that the Biden Administration’s last inflation scapegoat – the war in Ukraine – was yet another desperate  attempt to deflect responsibility for decades-high inflation. Earlier this week, House Republicans passed legislation that would responsibly lift the debt ceiling, rein-in spending, and strengthen our economy. This kind of leadership is necessary to tackle the current cost of living crisis—the same leadership that is missing in the White House.”
