Chairman Arrington Statement on December CPI Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for December 2025, which shows inflation rose at a 2.7% annual rate, unchanged from November. Core inflation, which excludes the volatile food and energy prices, increased 2.6% year-over-year, less than expected.

House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) released the following statement on the CPI report:

"Today’s encouraging inflation report is proof President Trump and unified Republican leadership’s America First, pro-growth policies are working.

"For four years, President Biden and Democrats ushered in one self-inflicted disaster after another. Their unprecedented tax and spending spree lit the fuse on historic inflation and created the worst cost of living crisis in 40 years, crushing working families.

"In response, the American people elected a new CEO in President Trump and unified Republican leadership to usher in a new era of affordability. And that’s exactly what we kick-started in the One Big Beautiful Bill, which is delivering stronger growth, more take-home pay for families, and the lowest core inflation in nearly five years.

"But, there’s still more work to do. To truly usher in the Golden Age of America, Republicans must rise to meet this moment and build on our historic momentum by unlocking Reconciliation 2.0."
