Inflation Update: Chairman Arrington Statement on March CPI Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) released the following statement on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for March 2025, which showed year-over-year inflation dropping to 2.4 percent:
“Today’s inflation report shows that prices dropped more in March than any month since May 2020. This is proof of the Trump effect in action.”
“Nearly three months ago, President Trump took office and immediately kicked off our Golden Age by securing hundreds of billions in new private market investments, reining in spending, shrinking our bloated bureaucracy, and halting $180 billion in burdensome regulations. It is no wonder consumer prices fell by the largest amount in almost five years.
“While today’s CPI report is promising, more must be done to mitigate the Democrats’ four-year spending spree. Once we reverse Biden’s unilateral surrender on trade, lower taxes, cut Washington red tape, incentivize work, and open up energy production through the budget reconciliation process, Americans will have more job opportunities, a lower cost of living, and a better quality of life.
“With Republicans in both chambers of Congress working toward a fiscally responsible budget that cuts wasteful spending while cutting taxes for the American people, the best is yet to come. Reverse the Curse!”
