President Biden’s Spending “Legacy” is Out of Control, Wasteful, and Unsustainable

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Budget Committee Republican Leader Jason Smith (MO-08) issued the following statement after President Biden announced another roughly $2 trillion plan on the eve of his 100th day in office:

“A mere 100 days in office, President Biden has now introduced or enacted $6 trillion in spending. That’s the equivalent of adding another nearly year and half of spending on top of the already unaffordable trillions the U.S. government is regularly pushing out the door annually. This uncontrolled impulse on the part of the President and Washington Democrats to spend without end is unsustainable, actually undermines American competitiveness and security, and threatens to drive up the cost of living for America’s working class. This flood of spending would pull even more out of the pockets of hardworking taxpayers and funnel through Washington giving the political class greater power and influence.

“The President’s 100 days in office have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will judge success by how far he can grow the size of government spending and the scope of Washington influence. He has pushed policies that destroy jobs and drive down wages. Sadly, the Democrat Majority in Congress seems to view the President’s actions as just the starting point from which to add more and more layers of their radical agenda and further fuel an unsustainable spending binge.”
