WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, President-elect Biden announced his intended COVID stimulus proposal. Ranking Member Jason Smith issued the following statement:“Joe Biden did not propose a COVID package tonight - he proposed a liberal takeover of the American economy. It's the Democratic playbook that President Obama used to pass the stimulus: use an economic crisis as cover to expand government and provide a blank check to fund a progressive wish-list. The plan President-elect Biden laid out tonight will have devastating consequences for Main Street America with higher costs to small businesses and government handouts that no business could compete with. Americans aren't asking for trillions of dollars in new spending - they just want our government to open our economy, get their kids back to school, and create jobs.
