Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for January 2026, which shows inflation rose at a 2.4 percent annual rate, down from 2.7 percent in December. Core inflation, which excludes the volatile food and energy prices, increased 2.5% year-over-year, in line with expectations. Gas prices dropped 3.2 percent in the month of January.
