Arrington on Bleak Outlook for Social Security and Medicare

WASHINGTON – House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) issued the following statement on the 2023 Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports, which previewed a bleak outlook for the future for the Social Security and Medicare programs, due in part to a downgrade in economic projections.

"Democrats’ and the Biden Administration’s $6T of deficit spending has not only caused record inflation, but accelerated the insolvency of Social Security.

"We must stop preying on the fears of our grandparents, put down the political weapons, and prioritize American seniors by working in a bipartisan way to strengthen and save Social Security and Medicare."
