Chairman Arrington: Help Us Less, Mr. President

Budget Chairman Slams President Biden for Doubling Down on Inflationary Spending Agenda

WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) issued the following statement after the White House announced a $50 billion inflation-causing spending package:

“President Biden’s reckless spending on the Democrats’ vast and radical expansion of the federal government has weakened our economy, racked up a record-high federal debt, and ignited an inflationary firestorm that is burning up the wages and savings of working families. Now, he wants to use the cause as the cure—Biden wants to cover up the consequences of his spending-induced cost of living crisis by predictably spending billions more on new government programs. This reckless, out of touch, and uninformed government spending is what got us here in the first place. Help us less, Mr. President!”

BACKGROUND:

Today, the White House released their ask for a domestic supplemental aid package, $56 billion unallocated U.S. taxpayer dollars to stave off business closures and pay cuts—the very consequences of the Administration’s incendiary spending to date.

The additional spending package comes as Americans are being crushed by spending-induced inflation, which reached a cumulative 17.1 percent under President Biden.

Today, a family of four is paying $15,133 per year, or $1,261 per month, more to purchase the same goods and services compared to the day President Biden took office.
