Chairman Arrington Joins Fox Business to Discuss “One Big Beautiful Bill”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) appeared on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” to discuss Americans’ strong support for the One Big Beautiful Bill, the rescissions package being considered by Congress, and the importance of continued fiscal restraint, economic reform, and America-first trade policies.

Strong Support by Americans for the Spending Reforms in the One Big Beautiful Bill:

“First, look at that Harris poll that just came out about the popularity of the Big Beautiful Bill. The number two most popular item was cutting the $1.5 trillion. That was more popular than the child tax credit, the no tax on tips, the reduction of taxes on overtime. People want reduction in spending. They want stewardship of their tax dollars, and they don't want us to bankrupt our country. There's still more meat on the bone in terms of fiscal reforms in Medicaid and other healthcare and welfare programs. And then we need to take another run, Maria, at writing the policy to prohibit tax dollars to flow to transgender procedures through Medicaid and also monies to illegals — the state monies that are fungible with federal match to people here in this country illegally.”

On the Rescissions Package Being Considered by Congress:

“The President in his first term sent a 16-billion-dollar recissions package, which had been the largest recission package ever in his first term. We passed out of the House, and it failed in the Senate, so the Senate's record isn'tvery good. I'm concerned because the people sent the President here to rein in the woke and wasteful spending in the people's government. We're haggling over monies, about $400 million, that isn't for international aid or life-saving assistance. It's more promotion of radical ideology and woke programs. But nevertheless, we've moved past a procedural hurdle.  I believe we're going to get this $9 billion in wasteful spending rescinded and back to the Treasury to reduce the taxes on our children, which is the $2 trillion annual deficit.

“People want reduction in spending, they want stewardship of their tax dollars, and they don't want us to bankrupt our country. We get more economic velocity from cutting spending than cutting taxes.”

On the $27 Billion Federal Surplus in June:

“Right now,we're getting record revenue from tariffs—about $100 billion this fiscal year—which is the most ever. But we're also seeing improvement in economic output over last year. We're seeing prices come down.”

“We're just trying to stabilize the patient because we've had horrible policies. We've had unbridled spending. We've had record inflation and interest rates. So,we're seeing modest improvement, but I think you're going to see significant improvement in the future because of the policies in the reconciliation bill—not to mention the largest deregulation of the energy economy, which is the biggest input cost for most manufacturers and businesses.”

On President Trump’s Trade Policies:

“I'm expecting a level playing field. That's all this reciprocal trade policy is about. It's about fairness and a head-to-head competition. And America, and American producers and manufacturers and workers, will win every day and twice on Sunday.”

“President Trump was successful in his first administration… We saw a 25 percent uptick in exports and trade activity, but we saw wages increase—a 25-year high increase in wages and income—and the poverty rate was the lowest in recorded history.”

“America-first trade is critical to our prosperity—not for the people at the top, but for all Americans, because all boats rise on the tide of prosperity.”

“So, I say: Go Trump, go. We got your back.”
