Chairman Arrington on Next Steps in the Reconciliation Process:
“Our plan was written out and articulated in the budget resolution that we passed out of the Budget Committee and the House most recently. And that’s the budget resolution which unlocks the budget reconciliation bill, which contains the full America First agenda. A big part of that is getting to good economic policy. Opening up domestic energy production, locking in low taxes, but also reining in and u
nnecessary spending that’sdriving our deficits and unsustainable debt. All of that, plus investing in border security and defense. All of that in a balanced budget resolution that brings down the deficit and debt-to-GDP. Then we throw in the debt limit increase so that we pay our debt, so that we protect the good faith and credit of the United States. But we do it in a fiscally responsible way. That bill is over there in the Senate, and I’mencouraging my colleagues in the upper chamber to take it up and pass it with the same urgency that we moved in the United States House.”
Chairman Arrington on Reducing the Debt:
“This isn’t a Republican or Democrat problem. It's a math problem, and it’s America’s problem, and we need to demonstrate the leadership to take it on. One way we do that as Republicans is in this budget reconciliation bill to rein-in the spending to the tune of $1.5 trillion...You’ve got to grow the economy as you bend the curve on spending. And the last administration’s unbridled spending, their failed economic policies of taxing, borrowing, regulating, have to be reversed.”
Chairman Arrington on the Biden Administration's Wasteful Spending:
“Joe Biden and the Democrats spent trillions of dollars after the pandemic when Larry Summers, a Democrat economist, and others were sayingstopor you’re going to overheat demand and you’re going to overstimulate the economy, and you’re going to create an inflation crisis...This federal government is fraught with wasteful and fraudulent spending, and we’re way overdue for right sizing the bloated bureaucracy.”
