WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: President Trump Endorses House Budget Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republicans on the House Budget Committee advanced the fiscal year 2025 (FY25) budget resolutionto restore economic prosperityin the United States and deliver on all of President Trump’s transformative America First agenda to:
-
Provide tax relief for working families and small businesses;
-
Reverse the Biden-Harris administration’s whole of government assault on domestic energy;
-
Rein-in reckless spending that lit the fuse on inflation; and
-
Give the Trump-Vance administration the critical resources they need to secure our border and strengthen our national security.
The House Budget Committee’s resolution is backed by congressional leaders, stakeholders, and budget watchdogs from across the country.
Read what top voices have to say about the resolution:
“The House and Senate are doing a SPECTACULAR job of working together as one unified, and unbeatable, TEAM, however, unlike the Lindsey Graham version of the very important Legislation currently being discussed, the House Resolution implements my FULL America First Agenda, EVERYTHING, not just parts of it! We need both Chambers to pass the House Budget to “kickstart” the Reconciliation process, and move all of our priorities to the concept of, “ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.” It will, without question, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
House Republican Leadership Joint Statement:
“The budget resolution has passed through committee and House Republicans have now cleared a critical hurdle to delivering on the major priorities of President Trump’s America First agenda. From the outset of this process, we sought to ensure participation from every member of our conference and make clear that this resolution reflects our collective commitment to enacting the President’s full agenda – not just a part of it.
“This is the start of the process, and we remain laser-focused on ultimately sending a bill to President Trump’s desk which, among other things, secures the border, keeps taxes low for families and job creators, restores American energy dominance, and makes government work better for all Americans.”
—U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain
House Budget Committee Vice Chairman Lloyd Smucker (R-Pa.):
“Today was a critical first step towards implementing the mandate that President Donald Trump received from the American people. I voted for a budget resolution that will secure the border, unleash American energy, extend tax cuts for small businesses and hardworking families, and slash government waste in Washington. House Republicans are unified in support of these policies. I want to thank Chairman Arrington, my colleagues on the Budget Committee, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Majority Leader Steve Scalise for their work to advance this great legislation. There is more work to do in the weeks ahead but today was a great first step in helping to make America great again.”
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.):
“Thanks to Chairman Arrington’s leadership, the budget resolution makes historic investments in our defense. I look forward to working with my Republican colleagues to get these crucial investments across the finish line.”
American Petroleum Institute (API) – Kristin Whitman, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs:
“The House budget resolution takes a critical step toward restoring American energy dominance by expanding access to federal lands and waters, ensuring onshore and offshore lease sales move forward, and incorporating sensible tax provisions. Expanded development and competitive tax policies go hand in hand, driving investment, job creation and affordable energy for consumers. We applaud policymakers for advancing pro-growth reforms that solidify the U.S. as the world’s energy powerhouse.”
“At AFP, our top priority for 2025 is to improve and extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). That is why we launched our biggest campaign ever: Protect Prosperity, with an initial commitment of $20M and an army of dedicated activists ready to elevate their voices to lawmakers.”
“Extending TCJA prevents unnecessary and unwanted tax increases on hardworking Americans, who deserve their money to remain in their pockets to get relief from Biden's disastrous inflation. With lower taxes, businesses can create jobs and wages can grow.
“That's why we urge lawmakers to support the House Budget Resolution as a crucial first step toward extending the TCJA. Additionally, we commend ongoing efforts to allocate essential resources for border security and implement policies that advance energy abundance.
“We remain committed to advocating for sound policy solutions that promote economic prosperity and national security.”
“Americans for Tax Reform urges all members of the House Budget Committee to vote “Yes” on the FY 2025 budget resolution introduced by ChairmanJodey Arrington (R – Texas).”
“This resolution is a key first step in ensuring the 2017 Trump tax cuts are made permanent and for delivering on the tax cut agenda President Trump campaigned on.
“By voting in support of this budget resolution, members will be providing the necessary legislative vehicle to make the provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent law and provide tax relief for Americans across all income groups.”
Cato Institute – Adam Michel, Director of Tax Policy Studies:
“The House budget resolution takes a comprehensive approach to meet the Republicans’ priorities. On tax policy, it provides the Ways and Means Committee a $4.5 trillion allowance to reduce revenue. This is more than enough room for Republicans to pursue a pro-growth tax bill that makes the most important tax cuts permanent.”
National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors:
“The budget currently before the Budget Committee lays the groundwork for pro-growth, pro-worker measures.”
National Small Business Association:
“We’re grateful to Chairman Arrington and House Leadership for their work on the recently unveiled Budget Resolution. This bill is a vital first step toward extension of critical tax provisions, like Section 199A, that main streets across America depend on. Without the extension of these provisions alongside the TCJA individual rate reductions, beginning at the end of this year, small companies operating as passthroughs will face a “one-two punch,” paying a higher percentage in tax on a higher proportion of their earnings. Small Businesses represent over 99 percent of all companies in the U.S. and employ nearly half of all private sector workers, yet are uniquely vulnerable to shifting tax burdens that threaten their survival.
“We urge Congress to ensure that Small Businesses aren’t left on the hook for a massive tax hike.”
“NTU is pleased to see a budget resolution that paves the way for an extension of TCJA and some serious debt reduction measures. This is the start of a process that could greatly benefit taxpayers by providing tax relief and improving our nation’s fiscal health.”
